Staff Governors
Chris Luxford
Fortunately, I have been Head teacher at Milton Abbot for over 5 years where I have seen the children and staff grow from strength to strength.  Working alongside the Governing Body, I am able to guide the children, parents and staff through all the challenges of school life.
.
Emma Pawlik
I have worked at Milton Abbot Primary School for over 4 years;  I teach the children in Year 3 & 4 of Tawny Owls Class, I am also Maths and STEM lead at the school. I am the staff link between the teaching team and governing body.
I am eager to learn new skills as part of my new role as a governor and feel I bring a level of enthusiasm and keen positivity to the Governing Body. I enjoy exploring new places on Dartmoor as well as going to the seaside and different beaches within Cornwall.
Parent Governor
Vacant
.
Miles Smith
I have been working in education for more than twenty years in a range of contexts, both in the UK and further afield. I have extensive experience in primary education, as a class teacher and as Senior Leader. I now lead the Primary Education (BA) programme at Plymouth Marjon University. I grew up mostly in Plymouth and returned to the south-west after my first daughter was born in 2009. I am married and have two girls, and whenever I get some free time I love to walk or run on the moors.

Emma Hooker
.
Marcia Vanstone
I am a parent governor at Milton Abbot school because both of my children attend and love there time there. To myself the children's happiness and mindset to always try there best is most important. I hope to help where I can to maintain and improve the great standards our school already has.
I have a farm shop and event catering company which I am very passion about. I spend my spare time with my family; we love to walk around National Trust properties.
Co opted Governor
Brian Martin  - Vice Chair of Governors
.
Richard Marshall
.
Jane Byrne
I am a recently retired primary headteacher and was also a National Leader of Education as such I have supported a great many primary schools. I am a trained Pupil Premium and SEND reviewer. My main passion is for every child to receive the best education possible in a school where they are valued as individuals and are taught a broad and rich curriculum. As someone enjoying retirement I feel that I have the time and energy to support the school in whatever way possible.
LA Governor
Brian Cook - Chair of Governors
I’ve been involved in school governance for about four years now, both at Milton Abbot and also on the board of two Multi-Academy Trusts in the South-West. Before retirement, my professional background was in corporate and commercial finance and, as Chair of Governors,  I see my role as trying to ensure that all of the resources of the governing body work successfully together to provide challenge and support to the School Team. Our joint goal is that together we should produce the best possible outcomes for all of the Milton Abbot children who entrust us with their education.
Away from school, my wife and I live on the edge of Dartmoor where my time seems to be divided between three dogs, a large garden, walking on the moor (and school governance!).
