School Systems: Communication and ActionClosing the loop: All adults in the school receive yearly training in Child Protection and Safeguarding matters. Every weekly staff meeting begins with a safeguarding discussion, whereby we communicate and share concerns as a team but also complete scenarios, testing what we would do in different situations. Our strong team ethos is the string that binds our school net to identify and support any children vulnerable to the risk of harm. Our support is child-centred and includes Thrive, which is a programme that helps build social and emotional strength and resilience, as well as a quiet 'space' to talk and be heard. At Milton Abbot we believe that 'better never stops' and so our systems are continuously evolving and improving; this year we have begun to introduce a 'vulnerability heat map' for each child, to help monitor and prioritise children who may need us most.
Our School Safeguarding PoliciesAll child protection and safeguarding policies are formally reviewed on an annual basis by the Headteacher and Governors. All policies are available on this website, via the main school website or via the main school office (tel: 01822 870273) in any format requested to ensure access for all.
Safeguarding systems are reviewed regularly via Governor link visits and termly safeguarding data collection, following Local Authority advice. Worried About a Child?
