School Council
Pupil Parliament: Pupil Voice, Pupil Power!
Our Pupil Parliament is led by the children, who are democratically voted in by their peers and represent all the children across school, upholding our shared belief in: ‘Pupil Voice, Pupil Power’.
Each year, the Pupil Parliament decides upon a list of goals and ambitions based on making Milton Abbot School, the local community and the wider world an even better place to live and learn. Each year, the Members of the Pupil Parliament make a video designed to raise awareness about an urgent issue or to support the learning ethos of the school, such as our ‘Drive carefully on the Moor’ video, starring the Dartmoor ponies. This year the Pupil Parliament have decided upon the following ‘Values and Goals’

Curriculum Council
New in 2020 is the pupils’ ‘Curriculum Council’. This is another important group, who meet with school leaders to regularly share their thoughts, views and feelings about their learning:
They have the power to change how we teach and learn simply because we want to listen.
The Curriculum Council will also be taking part in our first ever exploration into the world of podcasts! Following a successful bid for funding, we have invested in equipment that will enable pupils to produce podcasts sharing their learning tips and experiences. The results will be linked below, so watch this space.
- How do they feel about the curriculum?
- Is it supporting them?
- Challenging them?
- Is it balanced or does the school focus too much on one area of knowledge at the expense of another?
